The 2023 Kia Soul has a distinctive, boxy profile and a sleek look. Up to five people can ride inside, and it's easy to see in a parking lot. Here's some more information about this fun-to-drive, attractive crossover SUV.

TRIM LEVELS (EXTERIOR)

The 2023 Soul comes in EX, GT-Line, S, and LX trim levels. A narrow upper grille connects the headlights with each other, and it has KIA lettering in the middle. There's also a larger mesh lower grille. Matching KIA lettering is underneath the rear window, and the curved taillights surround its bottom corners. You'll also get privacy glass, halogen daytime running lights, a rear skid plate, 16-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, and a washer and wiper for the rear windshield.

You can add fog lights, 17- or 18-inch wheels, heated power side mirrors with turn signals, roof rails, a power sunroof with a sunshade, chrome accents, and dual exhaust. Available colors include Inferno Red, Steel Gray, Surf Blue, Mars Orange, Snow White Pearl, Fusion Black, Undercover Green, Neptune Blue, and Gravity Gray. You can also select a Fusion Black roof with a Clear White or Surf Blue body.

ENGINE (POWER)

The 2-liter, four-cylinder engine gives 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. It has an intelligent variable automatic transmission. No other engine options are available, and this vehicle uses front-wheel drive.

PERFORMANCE

The 2023 Soul has a quiet, comfortable ride, anti-lock brakes, and responsive power steering. It can haul up to 1,179 pounds and pull up to 2,000 pounds. You can add a suspension that's tuned for off-road or sport driving. This vehicle can go 33 mpg on large roads and 28 mpg in urban areas. The fuel tank holds 14.3 gallons, and unleaded fuel with 87 octane or higher is recommended.

INTERIOR

Standard interior features include audio, cruise, and phone controls on the steering wheel, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a six-speaker sound system, and keyless entry. With the rear seats folded, the Soul has 62.1 cubic feet of cargo room. There are 101 cubic feet of space for passengers.

You can choose push-button start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, SiriusXM satellite radio, remote start, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, and navigation. A 10-way power driver's seat with lumbar settings, a D-shaped, sport leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and a Harman Kardon sound system with 10 speakers, an amplifier, and a subwoofer are optional as well.

SAFETY FEATURES

The 2023 Kia Soul comes with traction control, hill start assistance, electronic stability control, and a rearview camera. The front airbags can operate at different speeds depending on the conditions of an accident. You can add lane-keeping assistance, forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and lane change assistance. The GT-Line trim level is unique because it offers some optional features that the other trims don't have, such as forward collision avoidance assistance with pedestrian detection, cyclist detection, junction turning detection, and navigation-based smart or adaptive cruise control.
