2023 KIA SELTOS

When you're shopping for an SUV, you're sure to find what you want and need in the Kia lineup. One of the newest additions is the Seltos, a budget-friendly smaller option that doesn't skimp on power or features.

TRIM LEVELS (EXTERIOR)

The 2023 Kia Seltos fits into the Kia lineup between the Soul and the Sportage as a compact SUV. It comes in five trim levels: LX, S, EX, Nightfall Edition, and SX. With the base trim, standard equipment includes a rear spoiler, automatic projector-beam headlights, rear privacy glass, and acoustic front glass to reduce road noise. This model also shows off a set of metal-look skid plates on its front and rear, which help protect the components from damage.

Upgrades on the S trim include fog lights and heated side mirrors, while two-tone paint is an option. The EX tacks on a sunroof and upgraded accents, while the Nightfall Edition has blacked-out wheels and trim. LED lighting comes standard on the top SX trim level.

ENGINE (POWER)

With the lower three trims, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine comes standard. It produces 147 horsepower and is paired with a continuously variable transmission. All-wheel drive comes standard on all trims except the S, which offers it as an option. With the AWD system, a center lock and torque vectoring help to further improve the traction. The upper two trims include a more powerful 1.6-liter turbocharged engine rated at 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It works with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

PERFORMANCE

No matter which trim you choose, you'll appreciate the firm suspension and responsive steering that provides a sportier driving experience. If speed is your top priority, the turbocharged engine is a worthwhile upgrade. In speed testing, it zoomed from zero to 60 mph in around eight seconds, which puts it ahead of most compact SUVs in its segment. Both transmission options also deliver responsive and smooth shifting.

INTERIOR

Even the base trim of the Seltos comes well-equipped with cloth upholstery, supportive seats in both rows, and single-zone automatic climate control. It also has a six-speaker sound system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and a USB port. You can easily connect your device to enjoy your favorite playlists or use your preferred navigation tool to monitor where you're going.

The S trim adds leather upholstery, while the EX has luxury upgrades like heated front seats with power-adjustable functionality on the driver's side. The EX trim also includes a wireless charging pad, additional USB ports, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen. With the top SX trim, you get a premium Bose audio system, a rear cargo cover, and a sportier steering wheel.

SAFETY FEATURES

The 2023 model has additional safety features as standard, including automatic high beams, a driver attention warning system, and forward-collision mitigation. Lane-departure warning also keeps the driver aware of when the vehicle drifts out of its lane. All models include anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, and airbags throughout both rows of seating. At the top of the list, the SX trim tacks on lane-keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
