2023 KIA K5
The Kia K5 is a stylish sedan with a distinct look and a strong engine lineup to back it up. It has just a few updates for the 2023 model year. The LX is no longer a part of the lineup, making the LXS the entry-level model. The EX trim now has acoustic glass for the front doors, and the GT-Line has a new optional package with a panoramic sunroof. Here's a look at some details for the 2023 Kia K5.
TRIM LEVELS (EXTERIOR)
The entry-level LXS has 16-inch wheels, LED headlights, and proximity keyless entry. A step up to the GT-Line adds 18-inch wheels, LED foglights, LED taillights, and extra black trim elements. The optional GT-Line Premium adds LED projector headlights, and the GT-Line Panoramic Sunroof package adds a panoramic sunroof. The EX comes standard with the panoramic sunroof and offers the features from the GT-LIne Premium package as an option. The GT is the top-level K5. It has 19-inch wheels, wider tires, upgraded brakes, and a sport-tuned suspension.
ENGINE (POWER)
The base engine for the K5 is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that puts out 180 horsepower. It works with Kia's eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. The GT-Line is the only model that offers all-wheel drive as an option. If you want more power, the GT uses a 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 290 horsepower and generates 311 pound-feet of torque. It works with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
PERFORMANCE
The base engine has plenty of power for the K5, propelling it to 60 mph in just seven seconds. The GT is even more impressive with its turbo engine that will accelerate to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The ride in the K5 is smooth and comfortable. The acoustic glass keeps the cabin quiet at higher speeds. If you have the GT-Line with all-wheel drive, it adds a snow mode for added traction. Front-wheel drive versions of the K5 with the base engine are fuel efficient, getting up to 37 mpg on the highway.
INTERIOR
There's room for five in the K5. The LXS has cloth upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control. Step up to the GT-Line for a power-adjustable driver's seat or the EX for simulated leather upholstery. You can also get a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated steering wheel, and driver's seat memory settings in the K5. Technology starts with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-inch touchscreen, and USB ports. A 10.25-inch touchscreen comes in the GT-Line, which also has integrated navigation and wireless charging.
SAFETY FEATURES
Every 2023 Kia K5 has an extensive list of advanced driver aids. It includes forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, a driver attention warning system, rear-cross traffic alert, a blind-spot monitor, and rear-passenger safe-exit assist. It also comes standard with automatic high-beam headlights. The GT-Line with the Premium package adds Kia's Highway Driving Assist system, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control. The EX Premium package comes with all this and adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, rear automatic braking, and forward parking sensors.
